Monthly Intentional Pause - Online

First Thing First Friday - A Monthly Intentional Pause

7:30am-8:30am CT

A way to begin our month to notice God’s Presence

Time Zone Convertor

On the first Friday of each month, we’ll take an intentional pause to notice God’s presence and welcome the day with open hearts. This series will be supported by Surrender to Love, The Gift of Being Yourself, and Desiring God’s Will by David Benner. Each month our time together will include guided prayer and meditation, using Brenner’s series as our backdrop.

Bring your favorite morning beverage and come as you are, gently stepping from the quiet of night into the welcoming arms of Jesus.

Join Dr. Roseanne Elling and the SFSTX Team for a time reflecting on “Desiring God’s Will”, the third book in David Benner’s trilogy.

“Choosing God begins with receptive openness and attentiveness to God. Although God occasionally crashes through our walls of indifference, normally if we are to discern divine presence we must be spiritually attentive.”

While our conversations will be shaped by the themes and insights of the book, you’re invited to join us whether or not you have read it. We believe all who gather will have a meaningful time of reflection, connection, and shared discovery.

Online Opportunity

Your Biggest Blind Spots - Online Event

Almost all of us hit an invisible ceiling in our personal growth journey. It keeps us from realizing our personal and professional potential, and we waste vast resources on gurus who are stuck at the same spot but pretending otherwise.

The ceiling is called spiritual bypassing.

It’s the inner “work” that stands in for the real inner journey. It’s expanded awareness that simply increases your capacity to stay in the same patterns. It’s focusing on what you change rather than how you change. It’s becoming “better” instead of becoming free.

Join the Spiritual Formation Society and Dr. Kelly at this online event as he helps us see our blind spots as spiritual bypasses and begin the inner journey to more freedom.

Podcast

Get to Know Dr. Kelly Flanagan

This podcast is a relaxed and engaging conversation between Ted Wueste of the SFSAZ and Kelly about what it means to be formed in the image of Christ. The conversation in this series centered around one meaningful question:

“What’s your formation story?”

Get to know Kelly beyond his books and professional work as he reflects on the people, experiences, and moments that have shaped his faith, his life, and his ongoing journey with Christ.

A Holiday Season Online Gathering

Light in the Longest Night - Online Gathering

Christmas is often described as a season of joy—but sometimes joy is not the whole story.

For many of us, this season also holds grief, change, loneliness, disappointment, uncertainty, or the ache of someone or something deeply missed. Sometimes we simply arrive at Christmas weary.

Light in the Longest Night will be a quiet, contemplative gathering where there is room for all of it.

Together, we will slow down and make space to be present to God and to what is true within us. Through Scripture, guided reflection, silence, prayer, and the lighting of candles, we will gently hold the losses, hurts, and longings we carry

.

There will be no expectation to speak or share your story. You are welcome simply to come, listen, reflect, and receive.

And together, we will remember the quiet promise at the heart of Christmas: we do not have to manufacture hope for ourselves. The Light comes to meet us—even in the darkness.

Come as you are.
Bring what you carry.
There is room for you here.

This gathering will be held online via Zoom.

As part of our time together, we will light four candles, making space for grief, pain, longing, and hope. If you would like to join in this practice, we invite you to have four candles ready. Participation is entirely optional.
